Access into this yard was down a barely negotiable, slippery lawn slope. The slope turned into an opportunity to create distinctive outdoor rooms on different levels.

A pathway of irregular bluestone and staggered Karny stone steps lead through a delightful woodland onto a lawn panel. The lawn is bordered by plantings which provide color, interesting foliage effects and year round interest. Situated off the lawn panel is a cantilevered deck, commanding a grand view of the village harbor and the owner’s pool.  An overhead pergola imparts dappled shade and relief from the sun.

Entry onto the pool deck is secured by an attractive gate. A portion of the pool deck has been stepped-down and cantilevered over the existing slope to maximize the spectacular views of the harbor. The pool coping doubles as a curvilinear seatwall, an added benefit of the stepped-down feature. Large gatherings of family and friends can be accommodated on the deck at poolside, surrounded by the blooms of the season as they watch the ships in the harbor below.
